The idea of forming a Community Benefit Organization as the Fresno Chapter of the California Grand Jurors' Association had been of interest to both the Grand Juries of 2005-06 and 2006-07. The catalyst for undertaking the chapter creation was the plan for a methamphetamine summit proposed by the 06-07 Grand Jury. A group of current and past GJ members met late in October 2006 to determine if there was interest in a local chapter. Five participants volunteered to be on the Board of Directors and two others joined soon. Officers were elected, a membership application to CGJA was submitted, and By Laws were adopted in November.
We were formally accepted as a chapter of CGJA at the first general meeting on January 30,2007 at the Woodward Branch library.
